The Employment Services team has been quite busy since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis.
Between March 2020 and August 2020, these three main measures have been put in place to help support Nunavimmiut:
MEASURE 1:
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE 1-877-964-2961 NUMBER AND EMAIL ADDRESS (LEOSERVICES@KRG.CA) FOR LEO SERVICES.
We want to make sure that everyone benefits from the income support they are entitled to [Employment Insurance, Welfare, Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB), etc.] during the pandemic.
Please note that LEOs continue to provide services from their home or office, by phone or e-mail when possible, and that clients can schedule an appointment when necessary, following social distancing and hygiene measures. Elder workers are kindly asked to stay home.
MEASURE 2:
USE OF FACEBOOK (Employment Services KRG) TO DISSEMINATE INFORMATION ABOUT LEO SERVICES OR NEW GOVERNMENT-RELATED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS
The Employment Service Counselor creates posts with relevant information regarding the services provided by LEOs and distributes it to the LEOs and the Nunavik population on its Facebook page and on the Facebook page of the 14 villages.
ESCs answer questions and assist the public (online applications, simple questions about government programs, referrals to government authorities, etc.).
MEASURE 3:
PARTICIPATION IN SEVERAL CONFERENCE CALLS AND WEBINARS TO BE INFORMED ABOUT THE VARIOUS GOVERNMENT MEASURES (Service Canada, Canada Revenue Agency & Service Québec).
